All shops open in northern Kosovo
Kosovo’s minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, said that all grocery stores and bakeries which were closed on Monday as part of local Serbs campaign to stage a humanitarian crisis, have been opened Wednesday.
“After a two-day action of the Government of Kosovo and ministry of Trade and Industry, to stay close to our citizens living in the north, fulfilling our legal and constitutional obligation, I want to inform you that all shops in northern part of the country are open,” Shala wrote in Facebook.
He said that citizens living in northern Kosovo can be supplied with food without any problem. Local Serbs pushed by Belgrade have staged for two days a humanitarian crisis in northern Kosovo, by closing all shops. The move was taken as a sign a protest against Kosovo Government’s decision to impose 100 percent tax on Serbian goods to stop, as the Government said, aggressive campaign against Kosovo’s statehood.
